A friend's grandma passed away yesterday and so I thought I would make today's photo about grandparents. These are my paternal grandparents, in their twenties. On the reverse of my grandad's photo it says 'My fondest love, dear, for ever. Love, Bill x x x'. On the back of my grandma's photo it simply says '27 Nov 1943', meaning she would have been twenty years old. My dad estimates my grandad to be about twenty-four years old in his photo.
The locket that my grandma is wearing is the same one as in my photograph here. I suspect that it contained pictures of grandad then, as they had yet to marry and my dad hadn't been born, but since I was born it has contained two photos of me as a baby :)
I never met my grandad, he died before I was born, but I knew my grandma very well and she lived with us from about 1990 until she died in 2002. She was the one who bought me my first digital camera in about 2000 and consequently ignited my interest in photography, and so I hope I'm making her, and my grandad, proud. Finally, as you can see, I definitely get my good looks from my father's side ;) (Ps. Grandad, you look a little bit like Brad Pitt)!

One must ask what jesus would have done in this situation. If i recall, he was never one for a lot of red tape. My red letter bible has yellow highlights on his parable about rendering to caesar what is caesars. I recall what he said about taxes. Who recalls this parable.? Can one apply this to filling out a lot of forms in order to move the children to higher ground and safer quarters?

I had seen several Vultures, two Red-Tailed Hawks and at least one Red-Shouldered Hawk all circling together. I'd even taken a few photos. I found it very strange, but was trying to get to my house cleaning..
Then the dogs started barking... it was an anxious bark, one I had never heard before. I looked out the window several times and told them it was okay, after scanning the pasture and beyond. But they persisted.
Eventually, I went outside again. What I hadn't seen because a tree had blocked my view, were the hawks and vultures on the ground. The vultures waited and flapped as a red tailed hawk was eating something. It turned out to be a raccoon. I went in to get my camera and when I tried sneaking to the back of the barn to get a decent shot, the red-tailed hawk flew to perch in a tree just beyond my pasture. The vultures took the opportunity to dine while I took photos of the hawk.
I have many photos of the hawk, but this is one of several where it appears that he was missing three claws. Subsequent photos assured me he was fine, as I zoomed in on all of them. He had them tucked under in this shot.
The only times I can recall seeing hawks eating an animal that was already dead, was during extreme cold or extreme drought. Before this, I had never seen them circle a dead animal like the vultures sometimes do. Hawks and Vultures are typically seen circling to gain altitude, but vultures will also sometimes circle when checking out something that might be dead. This is from my own daily observations... I don't know how scientific it is.
